There we were minding our own business sitting inside in the warm when the distant sound of explosions could be heard.  Jan exclaimed “A boat is coming through the ice!” It’s quite surprising how far the sound of breaking ice travels.  Eventually a broad beam tour boat appeared from the direction of Leighton Buzzard.

The steerer called out that he wasn’t worried about the blacking as he was taking the boat to the dry dock for re-blacking.

It’s our third day of being frozen in and fortunately we don’t have to be anywhere else.  Jan is baking a daily loaf of fresh bread.  It definitely has more “body” than the bought stuff.  She has also hung her fat balls beside Waiouru where the locals can have a nibble.
